Purpose and Objective of Position
The Sales Associate is a critical role on the sales floor as he/she is one the front line and the direct link between the Product and the Customer. DFS Sales Associates deliver a seamless customer experience as exceptional people delivering an exceptional product, building customer loyalty and relationships while delivering sales and productivity targets.
The role of the Sales Associate is to adhere to and achieve high quality of retailing standards. The Sales Associate will act as a representative of DFS and will strive for maximum sales results and excellent quality of customer service.
Working Conditions/Environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
- Ability to work flexible hours/shifts, including weekends, nights and holidays. Able to work overtime hours when necessary
- Ability to lift 35 lbs. product shipments 5 - 7 times/day
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Selling
- Assists customers in selecting, purchasing, refunding merchandise within his/her designated Sales Area (assign by a manager) while demonstrating excellence in customer service at all times
- Complete accurate sales transactions in a professional, timely manner
- Assists in developing clientele base through Platinum Service Club (PSC) and other relationship building activities
Customer Experience
- Proactively seeks to develop and maintain professional relationships with customers
- Maintains a smart and well-groomed appearance (as outlined in the DFS Grooming Policy) in full DFS uniform to convey a professional image of self-confidence and competence
- Consistently applies the DFS Apprentice to Master behaviors including indentifying customers' temperaments and flexing to their style
- Provides consistent helpful, friendly assistance in a sincere manner
- Maintains eye contact
- Uses professional language at all times
- Performs various non-selling functions such as receiving and checking merchandise, housekeeping, and visual merchandising in order to maintain effective retail operations and other duties, as assigned by a manager
- Responds to customer queries and complaints in a polite and courteous manner - refer to the manager or Manager on Duty, as appropriate
Floor and Product Presentation
- Demonstrates product features and special product information
- Ensures floor presentation meets or exceeds brand and DFS requirements
- Maintains stock levels of all merchandise in the department
- Familiar with store layout and direct customers to merchandise, services and facilities as appropriate
- Assists the management team in the coordination and execution of all team merchandising activities, including inventory management, presentation quantities, promotional activities and merchandise stock flow
Teamwork
- Works cooperatively with co-workers to accomplish sales and service objectives
- Assists other sales staff in periods of peak demand to ensure that customers in all areas are attended to promptly and efficiently, with waiting time reduced to a minimum
- May also be assigned outside of their designated sales are as necessary to ensure proper store coverage and/or customer service levels
- Takes action to problem solve or effectively communicate to manager for assistance
- Provides manager with customer feedback
- Treats all management and fellow team-members with respect to support a healthy and positive team environment
General
- Plans and participates in physical inventory counts, including overnight shifts as assigned
- Maintains light housekeeping, ensuring retail areas and store rooms are neat, clean, hazard-free and dust-free
- Adheres to established health and safety policy and other DFS company policies, procedures, and regulations
- Adheres to policies and procedures as directed and required by company management and airport and customs regulations
- Attends meetings, trainings & store briefings when required, to gain greater knowledge of the business and product
